Lake Superior offers an avalanche of fantastic angling opportunities... whether fishing from shore or launching from numerous boat access locations.

You can bet there's always plenty of fishing excitement to encounter and a creel full of surprises to boot.  Here's a Lake Superior fishing guide on where to locate and get in on the fishing action.


Lake Superior Ice Fishing Report

Currently Lake Superior's Munising Bay ice is rapidly deteriorating.    

Munising Bay's Anna River outlet is accessible for river wading, along with AuTrain Bay's AuTrain River outlet, Shelter Bay and if you're really the brave at heart...the Whitefish river outlet will offer up some real surprises, where coho salmon are beginning to show up- slow but sure; and the whitefish are always biting after ice out.

Lake Superior Shoreline Fishing

Don't have a boat? No problem, fish for splake, lake trout, brown trout, whitefish and yes... even northern pike. It's just all about knowing where to find them.

Anna River:
Cold Spring evening on the Anna River Fishing PierThe extended Anna River fishing pier, located just east of Munising, offer fisherman the unique ability to reach and fish for lake trout, splake, coho salmon and occasionally northern pike from its "T" type fishing pier. You could also wade the Anna River mouth to reach game fish making their way to new, Spring run-off food sources.

Fish live or dead bait near or just off the bottom- or spin fish medium size spinners, spoons and plugs. Fishing the Anna River outlet can offer up some exciting surprises and loads of clear water fishing enjoyment.

Best fishing times are early morning and late afternoon into evening and always best under diffused lighting such as light rain, fog or overcast.

Munising, City ( The "L") Dock, Marina, Break Wall
This city dock, located in the heart of downtown Munising offer fishermen the ability to cast into deep, clear water fishing for lake trout, coho salmon, brown trout, whitefish, yellow perch and northern pike.

Best times to fish are when Marina activity levels are low such as; foul weather, early mornings and early to evenings during summer. The Marina doesn't become active until middle to middle May.

The best times of the year to fish the city dock are; April, May, June and September. Use described, same methods and baits as listed above.
