A good number of great river tributaries adorn the southern shores of Lake
Superior along the northern
tier Upper Peninsula; many of which excel as excellent U.P. river fishing hot
spots all year around.
Throughout four seasons, you can head to the river mouths and find little if any
fishing pressure and almost always, loads of angling enjoyment. Here, we'll do
our best to provide you with a few of our favorite locations, known to be some
of the most productive and most fun.
River Fishing Report
Updated:
Saturday, March 15, 2008
This time of the year, due chiefly to an abundance of ice and snowfall, Lake
Superior river outlet fishing opportunities are extremely limited. You may have
to trek over mounds of gathered ice formations in order to get to flattened lake
surface. Doing so is not advised, but many seasoned ice fishermen do.

One river outlet that stands out to provide an avalanche of fishing fun this
time of the season is the Anna River, Alger County.
You may have to brave some rather harsh, cold winter elements at times, but the dividends could pay off big time.
Die hard fishermen need only apply, and fishing pressure non-existent :-)
Winter, cold weather fishing the river's mouth can be easily accomplished by
wadding the slippery banks and shallow stretch of the outlet, or you may use of
small craft or even fishing on the ice edge. (when conditions allow)
