Painless Fishing Hook Removal

Here’s a fishing tip that should be illustrated on every box of fishhooks and
lures sold. I have used it to flip hooks out of people’s lips, cheeks, hands and arms, including my own.
The worst situation involved a puppy whose jaws and gums were sporting three treble hooks after attacking a six inch Rapala. It didn’t look very good but using this
procedure, the puppy

was on his way to resume play in a few seconds.

This illustration below will save a lot of explanation. Pass a length of string or fishing line under the bend of the hook. Hold the eye of the hook down firmly. This is most important.
Take both ends of the string in one hand, snap sharply upward in the opposite direction the hook traveled going in. The victim won’t feel a thing and will be surprised the hook is out. The barb of the hook follows the same path it took going in and does no further damage,
if you remember to hold the eye of the hook down firmly.
